The E-Yu-Wan Soviet Area was an important revolutionary base led and created by the Communist Party of China in modern history.
Creation Process:
After the 1927 Huangma Uprising, the Eastern Hubei Special Committee led armed struggles in Huang'an and Macheng areas, creating the E-Yu border revolutionary base. Subsequently, the Shangnan Uprising (May 1929) and Liuhuo Uprising (November 1929) formed the southeastern Henan and western Anhui bases.
In spring 1930, the Central Committee decided to merge the three bases and establish the E-Yu-Wan Border Special Committee. Thus, the E-Yu-Wan Soviet Area centered on Dabie Mountain was formally established.
Peak Development:
In May 1931, the E-Yu-Wan Central Bureau was established. At this time, the Soviet Area reached its peak with a total area of over 40,000 square kilometers, a population of 3.5 million, and 26 county-level governments.
Historical Contribution:
The E-Yu-Wan Soviet Area was an important birthplace of the People's Army, successively creating the Red Fourth Front Army (November 1931), Red 25th Army (October 1931), and Red 28th Army (January 1933). 349 founding generals emerged from here.
Strategic Transfer:
In October 1932, the main force of the Red Fourth Front Army was forced to withdraw from the Soviet Area and implement strategic transfer.
