Xinxian is located in the southern part of Xinyang City, Henan Province, in the Dabie Mountain area at the junction of Hubei, Henan, and Anhui provinces.
Capital of E-Yu-Wan Soviet Area:
In 1930, the E-Yu-Wan Border Special Committee was established in Xinji (now Xinxian County town), making Xinxian the capital of the E-Yu-Wan Soviet Area. In May 1931, the E-Yu-Wan Central Bureau was established in Xinji. For six years, this was the political, economic, and cultural center of the Soviet Area.
Cradle of Generals:
Xinxian is the famous "Generals' County," nurturing 93 generals of the Republic including Xu Shiyou, Li Desheng, and Zheng Weishan. General Xu Shiyou was from Xinxian. With a population of less than 100,000, 55,000 people sacrificed their lives for historical change.
Birthplace of Red 28th Army:
The Red 28th Army was established in Xinxian in January 1933.
